Emporia, Virginia — September 29, 2005 — VSSCyberOffice today announced that its’ existing Virtual Business Owners Training Program Initiative contract with Department of Defense has been extended through September 30, 2006.
Military spouses from the Navy, Marine Corps, Army, Air Force, and Coast Guard will continue to have a resource to help them develop a portable virtual business that can be operated on the Internet from virtually anywhere.
The VBO Initiative recognizes self employment as a professional career option and is designed to educate military spouses on how to become self-employed Virtual Business Owners. Operating exclusively as an online distance “eLearning Knowledge Portal”, VBO provides guidance for any military spouse who wishes to become self employed by bringing together entrepreneurial minds across time and space, teaching the various elements that are essential to becoming a successful virtual business owner, and providing an interactive online platform for information sharing, dialogue, empowerment, and mentoring. The service hosts several asynchronous and synchronous seminar workshops throughout the year. Students accepted into the program can access a wealth of available resources to include downloadable course materials, self-help articles, virtual classroom software, job opportunity lists, a community events calendar and much more.
“I am excited and continue to be very optimistic about the opportunities this program offers to military spouses who are serious about being a virtual business owner”, said Victoria Parham, the program’s contracted director & seminars leader, a retired military spouse, virtual business owner, and a success story in her own right. “The information, materials, and content provided to our community members’ is updated daily, to ensure that they have the most up-to-date resources they need to compete successfully as self-employed virtual business owners in the growing new knowledge workforce”.
